PraiseMoves Posture: Standing CrossThe PraiseMoves Workout is a Church activity. There is no instructor, and each participant needs to own a copy of the DVD which is played during the workout. Each person does as much as they want in their own time. There is no requirement to keep in time with the music (hymn tunes) or recite aloud (Bible verses and scriptural affirmations).

The PraiseMoves DVD can be ordered from Ryde Baptist bookshop, Castlebooks Newport or www.eden.co.uk.

The "20 Minute PraiseMoves" DVD has beginner, intermediate and advanced  sections and 'offers modifications for seniors and the physically impaired.  Correct body alignment and deep diaphragmatic breathing is necessary at all levels so there are frequent reminders of this and other details.'

Note: please don't be discouraged by the picture on the front of the DVD. It is from the Advanced section. The photograph on the right shows one of the postures from the Beginner Section, The Standing Cross. 

There is no charge for the workout. There will be a container for donations towards the cost of the facilities provided by the church.

Participants are advised to

  • bring a towel or mat to use during floor postures and relaxation
  • bring a sealed container of water, and drink often during the workout
  • wear loose clothing (no leotards please)
  • wear comfortable shoes / trainers for the warm up section
  • remove shoes for the postures

 

Before joining the group, participants are required to sign a paper saying that they agree with the following statements:

I will watch (or have already watched) the instructional section of the DVD to learn the breathing technique and postures that I will be doing during the workout. I have taken note of the instruction to contact my GP before undertaking physical exercise.
