DiscussionAwayday 2010

On January 16th we held our 3rd Awayday at Westbrooke. Even though our new pastor, Howard (left, stripey sweater), had not officially started work, he and Irene (red sweater below) attended, so we all had plenty of time to chat with and get to know them better. Rob Whillier of the Wight Churches network told us of the ways the Awaydaycraftschurches on the Island are working together. He also challenged us on how we relate to each other. At the end of the day, one person applied for church membership.

Playing on the WiiWe played games and participated in craft activities and quizzes. We even got one glamorous granny playing on a Wii. Several ladies displayed the bracelets they had made from paper and beads. Margaret organised the craft activities. Her 97 year old mother died the previous day. Margaret wanted to come for at least part of the Awayday because she feels the church is like her family.
