Whilst we walked around Nunwell on July 10th a heavy downpour over Ryde led Jack and Beryl to lay a carpet of newspapers for our return. In fact it hadn't rained at all where  we were. On the 16th we returned to Pat & Tony's soaked through to the skin! A week of heavy rain made us wonder what would happen on the 24th - the weather was perfect, as was the 4 mile walk, even if we didn't see any squirrels. On July 31st we went Nightjar watching at dusk. Cupping the ears helps to locate the position of the nightjars, We only saw one but heard several more and enjoyed the gentle stroll with views across to Tennyson Down, Swanage and Bournemouth.
